The reg uses shims to adjust the pressure, correct. Not those shims.
The shims in question are tank shims to align the tank orientation, yes.
I am not using the tank shims. How I found this out is simply by threading a pressure checker onto the tank itself. It was found that putting the fitting on tight (all the way) gave a reading of the proper regulated outoput psi it is set to (1200psi). By unscrewing the pressure checker a half turn, a whole turn, etc., to simulate what the end effect is if using the tank shims. The pressure reading became less and less the more the adapter was unscrewed. This means the tank pin is being depressed more and more the more the tank is unscrewed in turn lowering the output pressure.
