I'd avoid metallic brushes in brass or bronze barrels.

Response to Bore Snakes ok for brass barrels?

The short bristles may prove quite stiff and of a different (harder) alloy. Brass and bronze (like many metals) exist in many alloy versions. Some are quite hard and durable while others are "dead soft". Use a pull cord with tight patches instead.
