Ok, so today I was in the same spot where I saw the "naked hiker". Again, shooting .177 Eujins out to 50 and 75 yards after sighting in the Talon at 25 yards. I was out there from 8-11AM and while I did hear some rustling in the brush just above me, it was quiet, warm but a nice breeze. No sign of the hiker and no bugs thankfully.
While walking back I heard some rustling in the brush just ahead of me. I was on a service road that borders the wilderness area where I was hiking. The road was cut into the side of the hill so there is quite a bit of dry brush above the road. Probably about 25 yards just in front of me to my right and above me in some brush was an adult coyote. I thought it was a stray dog at first; about the size of a small German Shepard. When it turned and moved slowly away as I moved closer I realized it was a coyote. It looked like it was hiding in the bushes above the road to try and ambush something. I can't imagine it would try to attack a jogger, biker or someone out for a walk with their dog but it was a weird sight at around 11:30 AM. This location is about 100 yards from the road where I parked my car. It is at the very top of a hill in a suburban neighborhood that borders a pretty big wilderness preserve with lots of hiking trails.
The scary thing is that this is also very close to a popular lookout spot where the local kids go to drink. They leave all their trash(food containers, beer bottles, etc.)up there which is annoying and mind boggling so of course there are always bird scavengers around. It is a plateau on the hill adjacent to where my car was. It is a short but steep hike.
Anyone think these guys would attack a human? I know the coyotes get the pet dogs and cats in this area. I always see, "missing dog and cat" signs in the neighborhood.
