Now that I have the trigger to my liking I love just about everything about my .22 Royale. However it is just too much gun to use as my daily shooter in my smallish back yard with neighbors on all sides. My .22 is an older model without the power adjuster and while I know I can turn the power back via the hammer spring in my mind that negates nearly any reason for buying a .22 bottle gun. With that in mind and considering how much I like this rifle I am thinking about getting one in .177 for back yard uses and who knows I might even give HFT a try. I have done a search here and elsewhere and there doesnt appear to be much info out there on .177 Royale especially the newer models with the ST barrel and power adjuster. If anyone can give me some input on the following items I would greatly appreciate it.
Optimal fill pressure
Shot per fill at a specific power level within a given velocity spread (e.g. 80 shot per fill @ 19 FPE within a 20 FPS spread) If you can also give the starting and ending fill pressures that's all the better.
If equipped with the power adjuster, FPE at each setting
ST or LW barrel which you prefer and why
I have no doubt that a ST barrel will shoot great with its favorite ~10 gr pellet at 19ish FPE but what happens when you turn the power down. Will it still deliver good groups or will you need to select a different pellet per power setting to achieve the best accuracy? Is a LW barrel better if you want to shoot at lower power levels?
