Ed, that depiction of scope internals is a good one, easy to see how it would be more easily damaged at max adjustment. Something I have always wondered about is thin soft springer barrels bending when cocked, over zealously, into the stop. There are many ham handed youths and adults that will bottom out the cocked barrel. I use movable vee blocks on a piece of hardwood and my arbor press, even works for shotgun barrels.
