Response to 700-800fps

The Brits do an awefully good job clearing courses using 12ft/lb guns. This is what I would consider to be a minumum as far as effectiveness in F/T. I think Andrew's estimate of 935 with heavies is in reality a bit high, as most I know go for the mid to high 800's using heavies. There is no reason why you can't be competetive using lights and shooting at 12ft/lbs. It then becomes much more a matter of your individual skills with the gun. For what it is worth, many of the top shooters are using 12ft/lb power levels right now, using lights, to ready themselves for the worlds which are being held in England this year.

As for scoping, yes, the 6X24 is decent, but I would recommend you go for all you can get when it comes to the scope. A better bet would be the 8X32. I don't feel there is really enough of a price difference between the two, and you give up plenty by trying to save money on the scope.
