Been shooting all season with my Vanquish and aside from user errors in the last match, I was shooting progressively very good. Now my USFT is shooting spot on, finally got my dope/clicks on it yesterday...part of me says stick with a good thing, the other part of me says start strapping up with the USFT, it is more stable and adjustable once seated with it. Any thoughts?
That is one thing that is for sure. I don't know that much about FT, but if things are going well, I would stick with them for the rest of the year, then, practice and/or switch during the off season.
In performance cycling they say "its not the machine ... its the engine." In other words, its not so much the bicycle one rides, but how well they ride the bike.
The same applies to golf, or to shooting.
I'd suggest you invest in several lessons from a registered shooting coach.
The new drivers that are either official Big Berthas or copycats are just incredible. It's not the distance so much as the fact that it's hard to miss the ball now. They also have their comical appeal to me---looking down at that 'half a bowling ball on a stick' makes me laugh every time. Well, that and the fact that the tell-tale click is all you hear up and down the line at the driving ranges now. "Click"-click"-"click".
Together with hybrid irons, the game is definitely getting more user-friendly. As soon as they offically change the hole to a big steel washtub, my score is finally going to improve!
BTW, Tony, if your practice scores are always better now with the USFT than your pre-existing rifle, what are you waiting for? (Don't listen to me---I don't shoot in FT competitions).
I think you should distance yourself from that evil Vanquish. If you want to have a trial separation, I have some room in my safe. I know my safe is not really worthy of holding a Vanquish with a Solo and Talon, a few air pistols and other low class guns... Hey, it's only a trial separation!!!
Tony- are you old enough to remember Tower Of Power's

Don't Change Horses In The Middle Of The Stream ? Just kidding bro'- Hell, nobody can really answer that for you- don't sweat the small stuff and SHOOT
John B. and I went to a GOB match Saturday. Rained like a SOB, but Roz had 5 lanes, two targets per, set up that could be shot from under his pavillion. The rain didn't stop us, we shot our match! When we were done, Roz grilled burgers. GOB's ain't afeared of no rain bro'! Come rain or shine we'll have a good time at Roz's Hollow.
Come see us Tony-

P.S. Tower Of Power is a horn/funk R&B band from Oakland
As Chuck Yeager said, "It's not the machine, it's the man".
Target shooting is also about the shooter's confidence in the gun. The gun 'has to shoot better than you do'. If you have more confidence in the USFT (no matter why), I vote for your using that gun.
You already know how well you shoot with the Vanquish. Time to give 'the new gun' an honest test IMO....besides the USFT suits you.
I'll send you the recipe for the potato salad and carne asada.
Is shot 37/44 with my sub 12lb. USFT Hunter #13 ( 8x32 B/L scope, 700 fps with JSB 10.2 g pellets).
Doug Miller beat us all with a 42/44 Kevin was down 5 shots before some tree branches got to him.Do know his final score.v.p.
Shoot what you want to win with and learn it. If you think thats a USFT then might as well toss the others and get on with the one you still need to learn how to shoot well. The sooner you start the sooner you will get where you want to be.
Unless your in some league Grand Prix seasons are just a change in the weather.
I shoot mostly Piston Class at major matches. However, I also enjoy shooting my EV-2 both International and Unlimited. Really it just depends a lot on my mood at the time. I've got two rifles set up that I really have a lot of confidence in. Those are my EV-2 (12fpe stock rifle) and my Whiscombe JW-65 MKII. The EV-2 is easy to transition to without much practice with it. However, the Whiscombe takes a little more preparation from me
So far this year I have had pretty good success with both. So, I would say take time to set both up right and shoot what you are in the mood to shoot. It might just surprise you how well you do if you are into the rig that you shoot that particular day!
I and some other guys at the club have been dying to try out our sub 12fpe pcps International Class style, we don't have enough guys to warrant that class, but for us to try and shoot like our brothers across the pond! I have an EV2 as well and find it to be a truly pleasant gun to hold and shoot!
shoot the new one at a match where it don't count. (Off the bench and off the knee are two different things.) If you do well then you have your answer, if you don't then theres no harm.
Now where do you find a FT match tomorrow????? Hmmmmm...
Gotta ton of stuff to get done at the house, likely not gonna go but what time you waking up? What would be too early to call? If I don't make it, good luck!!!
