Hi all, I just got an older chrony (The green one )from a buddy it works off a 9 volt battery. Seems to work the numbers flash. Problem I shoot in doors. Can't seem to get the light right for it to see pellet. The light overhead is florescent large bulbs. I hear they will not work. Can I rig up a bulb style overhead? do I need 2 light bulbs? Not sure how to get this to work. Also can I set it up down range near my target? or should it be right in front of me. I need your insight of this matter. Thanks for all your help. Kip

You are correct flouecent lighting will not work! Reg light bulbs will work, there has been some great post here on yellow on attaching led lights up to your sky screens or making new ones out of whatever you have or can buy. I have seen several post on led lights they seem to work very well, so do a search here on yellow on say chrony lights or chrony sky screens! whatever brings up post on the subject. You can do a trial with them before you actually make a permanet set up! I have seen post on some led flash lights you can buy cheap that seemed to have worked out well! Kip I took the time out to Google the yellow banner above the post here on yellow here is what came up on my search http://www.google.com/cse?cx=003406156692634343115%3Ap-lxj1iav9m&ie=UTF-8&q=chrony+led+lights&sa=Search&siteurl=www.google.com%2Fcse%2Fhome%3Fcx%3D003406156692634343115%3Ap-lxj1iav9m

One thing to add set your chrony up on something sturdy shooting close or far away! Just a warning to keep from shooting your chrony look it over good by setting up your rifle where you are going to shoot from like your bench lay it on whatever rest you are using and look and make sure it will clear your chrony! especially down range by your target! shoot first then set it up down range to make sure you are hitting your target where you want to and not your chrony! It may sound silly to you if you haven't used a chrony before, but TRUST ME there has been more chrony's shot versus ones that haven't been "YET"

I'm in the same boat

I just purchased a new chrony and I just realized that I needed lights too. From my understanding, I THINK
the fluorescent lights are no good because they flicker at a high frequency because of the alternating current (AC).
So I believe that it has to be an incandescent light bulb in order for it to work. I don't know if you need one or two.

Incandescent bulbs are mandatory

If you can, get some of the longer tubed ones. They usually are called Piano bulbs. That'll give you a wider area to record your shots. You'll need two of them. One for each sensor. Turn off your fluorescent bulbs if they are anywhere close since the flicker will give you erroneous readings. HTH

i had the same problem with my grrn chrony indoors,to solve the problem i just put a halogen drop light on the floor aiming up at the chrony to iluminate the white screens and it works great, they need to be lit up so it can read a pellet traveling through the light reflection
