Charger

February 5 2012, 9:20 PM

There is a small indicator light on the charger. From red ( charging), to green ( fully charged).

You didn't try it in full auto??

Auto

February 5 2012, 10:24 PM

It shoots full auto?

No, I'm just kidding. I tried a full-auto burst just to see what it was like. I didn't report on that because I had nothing to say about it.

As to the indicator, I can see a small black circle on the lower left of the charger, but it does not light up. I guess I got a dud, but at least it charges.

Thanks for your comments.

The light pellets you are using are shooting way too fast to be accurate, and the JSB Monsters are not accurate in ANY of the guns I have shot them in. Try different pellets for better accuracy.

I agree with trying diffrent pellets. The pic of the pellet you show looks like a Eun Jin, which would probably be a good pellet to try in that Power House.

Pellets

February 5 2012, 10:31 PM

Josh thanks very much for the comment on the pellets. I will try something in between and add that to my report. The Exact RS pellets give great groups at lower power, e.g., my Hammerli 850 @ 639 fps. But, yes, I've seen pellets "over-powered" before and thanks for pointing out that its happening with the RSs in the Speed.

thanks for the report

Did you try turning down the power? I know the gun has a lot of power but try shooting it below 30 fpe and see what happens.

More shot, better accuracy perhaps.

No Power Adjustment

February 5 2012, 10:36 PM

There is no way to adjust the power on the Speed, but as Josh pointed out above, different pellets produce various energies. The gun is still very new to me and I've got some learnin' to do. Thanks for your comments.

Many ways for aftermarket power adjustment

February 6 2012, 12:48 AM

Just from what I've seen internally you can replace the hammer spring
or add a limiting washer around the protruding valve stem (for limiting power)

If you watch the Speed video on Pyramyd

February 5 2012, 10:32 PM

The magazine is best loaded from the front (skirt first) so you won't have to press the pellets in with a tool.

I've heard the monster jumbos

February 5 2012, 10:54 PM

don't work so well at higher fps and I noticed in my rifle that shoots them @ 830fps they are good but not great. I've read the JSB .22 Ca 18.1 Gr Match Diabolo Exact Jumbo Heavy pellets work better at higher fps. I haven't tried them but I know someone that shoots them at 998fps and he can get one hole shots at 30 yards and dime size grouping at 50 yards. You might also give the Predator Big Boy Seniors a try, they're 28.5 grains - I shoot those out of my gun and they are great but I'm only in the 820fps range with them. I think they changed the name though and now they are called New Boy Seniors and from Skenco.

JSB

February 5 2012, 11:13 PM

I don't know if this is a coincidence, but my .25cal SPEED shoots the .25 JSB(25grain) Jumbos real hot. I mean they are flying out the barrel. It only took a few clicks for me to sight in the gun at 30 yards. 40, and 50 yards it's just a small ragged holed group too..

The .25cal 25gr shoot great

February 5 2012, 11:30 PM

out of my .25 cal too at around 1000fps! They are a different shape though than the .22cal jumbo monsters and that might have something to do with it.

.22 heavies

February 6 2012, 5:02 PM

That mystery pellet that was in the mag, is the 28.4 gr Eun Jin. They also make a 32.4 gr pointed style. These are probably the best pellets for this high power rifle. They are made in Korea like the gun. The New Boy Seniors are pretty good. they have a 28.6 gr round nose and a 26.2 gr pointed called a Predator Big Boy. The .22 JSB Monsters, from my experience, are not good. The skirts are too thin to handle the high power. The Baracuda 21.14 pellets are good, but probably too light for this rifle at it's current setting. I've shot all these in my 50 FPE Air Ranger.
