Ya I edited my post I did not tear down my trigger group as much as the pics. I figured it woudl be helpfull for people though....
LOL good old Roland... I e-mailed him back in the day before he put that site up and installed his GSI kit. I told him what I had done.... I also had done that mod but was not were I liked things to be...http://www.eddiecolwell.tzo.com/RWS-54.htm
is was shocked to see "I wish to thank Bruce Itterman, whose valuable info made it easy to disassemble and assemble the gun as well as lubing the new spring before installation."
When I was doing pellet testing, I avoided the heavier pellets as I did not have the GSI kit installed (Original spring did not like heavier pellets). Recently I chronied the m48 and found it has lost about 50 FPS so I ordered a vortec pg2 for it... I hope it shoots a smooth as the GSI. JM has different kits now so thought I would try the Vortek and power up the gun a little at the same time and goto heavier pellets.
My best group was some time ago. I used to have the target down stairs but I think my wife tossed it. It was a 1/4" with .177 crow magnums (I know most say they are not accurute well they were the best in my m48 and cpl's next best) It was at 54 yards. I surprised myself. Not often you hit a group less than 0.075 CTC at that distance. Darn I wish I could still find the target! Anyone that can get sub 1/2" groups at 50 yards with a magnum springer is dooing well. At that point pellet selection and the perfect hold can make a big difference! I know a guy that had a old chinese springer in .177 he was having accuracy problems. I told he to come over and do some shooting. Well he showed up with the cheaper pellets he coudl buy. He was luch to do a 2 1/2" group at 20 yards. I asked him if I coudl try and was only getting about 2 1/4" groups with the artillary hold after feeling out the hold the gun wanted. I then went into the house and got 8 different types of pellets. most would do under 1/2" ctc at 30 yards. Best was about 1/4".. not perfect but hte gun was in bad need of a tune by the feel of it a very loose spring guide. He went and order pellets.... Never heard any complaints of accuracy after that!
Lately I have been having problems shooting due to nerve damage in my left arm due to a car accident. I get trembles. Its slowing going away so I hope I can get back to those amazing groups! instead of the 1/2"-1" groups I have been getting.
I was only doing 0.075 CTC / 1/4" groups today at 10m inside testing the m48 but that was offhand and 10 shoots. Slightly better than the target I shoot before the trigger tune. I found the groups opened up left to right very slightly with the harder trigger pull.
