I didn't have the right size Allen wrench to take the bolt out. I can see part of the HDD and wonder if this jagged edge(hard to see due to the flash shadow)showing is normal or if something broke?
I haven't tried to get the valve out yet. I did try to use a drift and whacked the back of the hammer thinking maybe I could get the valve to open and exhaust but it didn't and I didn't want to risk hitting it any harder.

Eww! That HDD has rotated out of position. Both "wings" should show...

...in the slot as shown in this post. If you fiddle and cuss long enough (cussing optional but helpful happy.gif ), you should be able to rotate hammer and HDD until it's back in position.

Don't remove the bolt. Just make sure it's in battery so the allen head screw doesn't foul the hammer or valve.

From what I can see of the inside of receiver it's pretty scratched up

April 10 2012, 8:42 PM

I just looked at pictures in the link. I don't see the "wing" on the other side. Seems if stuck between receiver and hammer must be creating some serious resistance like a ompressed leaf spring.
I'll have to look tomorrow but it look like the piece that is visible is sheared at the bend. I can remove the hammer with bolt in place then?
Once the hammer comes out will the valve come out next or can I try to exhaust it in place(after I run a dowel muzzle to probe lest I reprise the 1322 faux pas with a lot more behind it).

Yes. The hammer will come out with the bolt still in place...

...then you can whack on the valve stem to your heart's content.

But I'm sure I have absolutely no idea what you can possibly mean by a "1322 faux pas." Heheheh. wink.gif

Mal..you ,ay be able to hook the hidden wingtip

April 10 2012, 10:24 PM

with the tip of an Xacto knife or bent piano wire, and fish it back into place.
When removing the striker and HDD,don't let it lock..keep the back edge of the HDD against the front edge of the bearing ring, or as close as you can.

It doesn't appear there is a wing tip to the showing wing

I will attempt to grab the rear as in Steve's linked pics and get the assembly out the back. I've got my Gerber mini tool with needle nose that can pluck a single ear hair,so they should be able to grab the "tail feathers" happy.gif
I'm thinking instead of me whacking on the stem putting striker in without the HDD and tapping the rear of it to prevent an off center hit.
