Post your mil-dot practice target ideas for all to see.

-----1 Mil-dot = 3.6 inches at 100 yds-----

Pellet tin 3-5/8" = 3.63" (credit to Ted's Holdover)

Softball - 12" circumference = 3.82"

What else is out there to shoot that is right around 3.6"?

Thanks for the ideas!
Tom

a little more info

the 12" softball is 3.8197" in diameter
I went shopping at wally world today and saw that they sell 11" softballs as well.
the 11" softball is 3.5014" in diameter

I figure the softballs would be good to use because they move whenever you hit them, forcing you to calculate where they are. Tomorrow I'll buy the 11" ones and start with some mil-dot range estimation practice.

why try to reinvent the wheel?

this is 5 " Diameter ball [pic is life size] may last a little longer than a softball since it was designed as a reactive rolling target. And it absorbs pellets, doesnt ricochet them.

I'm looking for things that are 3.6 inches in

May 7 2012, 6:08 PM

diameter, or very close, only. I'm new to mil-dot range estimation and would like to start out with something easy.
I've been thinking about trying those reactive targets out as well.

90mm = 3.54"

Really never got friendly with metrics...but the Medi size is about the diameter you are looking for.

HAve a friend that was into Sporting Clays, he would supply me with some of the 90mm clay targets and some of the 60mm (Mini) targets.

They shatter nicely....but will use the bio-degradable non-colored targets in order to avoid picking up the pieces (couple of rains, and they are gone)
