Airmax Gen II pistol reportMay 18 2017 at 11:15 AM

As most of you have, I got my .22 cal Airmax Gen II pistol yesterday. The trigger seemed safe as it came out of the box, so I proceeded to clean the barrel. Boy, the Chinese sure make it an effort to make the bore as crappy as you can. After cleaning, I shot it through the chronograph just to see where it is out of the box. All were 5 shots for each pellet. All I can say is "WOWZA".
JSB 14.3 gr-634 fps, 12.8 fpe, ES 39, SD 16
JSB 15.9 gr-622 fps, 13.7 fpe, ES 38, SD 15
JSB 18.1 gr-601 fps, 14.6 fpe, ES 31, SD 13
This is much more than I expected. I figured it would shoot around 525 if I was lucky This is pretty strong for a pistol. I also checked the trigger pull with my Lyman trigger gage and it was 2 lbs, 12 oz. Right now, I'm leaving everything alone. This is very good right out of the box. Tomorrow, I'm going to check for accuracy, then give the bore a generous scrubbing with JB borepaste. I expect this gun will settle down and shoot more consistently as time goes on.

Check hammer and trigger before loading........

The "big brown" truck delivered mine today.
As others have warned. my second
stage was set so light the gun fired
the instant I removed my thumb
from the hammer.
Size difference Gen 1 and Gen 11

I thought the new ones were suppose to be longer by an inch in a half.
The site now says the barrel is longer. Any one measure the two barrel lengths?
|Mike in Maryville|
Mine are the same length, I'm ok with that.

They're powerful enough and accurate enough to make me just happy as can be. My shooting buddy is gonna buy the green handled one and then we'll both be happy, LOL.
I'm good with it too

I'm actually glad it was the same length. I did get the LDC and was concerned
how long it might be if the gun came longer. So it all worked out well.
I was shooting it next to my brother in laws Gen I and I thought the noise
level was very similar. The LDC makes it backyard friendly.
When you installed the LDC did you screw the part
on the barrel until it stopped turning? I didn't.
Just till it held the shroud on tightly. Think that would
Cause a problem?
A way to tighten the SRS tighter....

I'll be posting some pics and fix in an hour or so...check back.
Meanwhile, if you press your finger VERY tightly against the breech opening/loading port, while tightening the LDC, it will help prevent the barrel bushing from rotating at the breech, and you can get a snug fit.
I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks
Maybe you should measure the barrel ?

The old version, has a 2-1/2" air stripper or longer inside the shroud.
The new MK II, has a 1" or slightly less long barrel nut..
This, = longer barrel, without looking like Pinocchio.
To tighten the barrel nut properly, just use an 8mm x 1 bolt and nut. (Local hardware item)
Run the bolt into the barrel nut, use the nut as a jam nut an viola, as tight as you want.
Leave the base and end cap on the pistol and adjust the sound level and look, by adding sections to your liking.
If I would have waited another day or two, just to get bolts to send, my inbox would have exploded, so we got them out as soon as possible.
All, just like we advertised.
We hope you all enjoy the new AirMax MK II and hope to have more here soon.
There are a few left in stock, but not many and not for long.
More on the way, but will be about 6-8 weeks before they arrive.
ALOT more inbound, and I'll try to keep you posted as soon as I get more info.
Thanks Again Guys

Yes, I had done what you suggested in another thread. It did make getting the
cap off much easier. Thank you for following these threads and giving advice.

Making a spanner from an old fork with some pliers.
Not pretty, but it works.
The bolt and a jam nut works much better.
The SLRS, had to meet several criteria.
Had to be centered, had to be secure as well as keep the barrel centered inside the barrel jacket.
To be on the safe side, really needed to be unable to fit any other similar "items" too, so we all get to keep having items like these on our airguns without restrictions.
These altered to fit the AirMax MK II here at the shop, just for Mrodair customers.
Hoping to have more time to make more add ons and tuning accessories soon and keep them simple and effective.
Another tip, the front sight, besides being painted a loud color like orange, I've sanded one of the SLRS mounting pads to be silver, just where the chamfer is on the back side to highlight the outline of the front site blade better in low light conditions.
Can't wait to show you guys the next pistols (yes there is more) and hope they get them produced soon.
The next pistol, is not like the precision, but is pretty sweet and I'm waiting on the prototypes with ALOT of anticipation.
As soon as we get these in, I'll post pics and more info.
SPA is really putting the coals to product development this year and so far, they haven't disappointed for the money.
Really looking for as much input from you guys about the new MK II, so we can keep improving the product line.
Thanks to those who have put in the time to give their opinion, it helps out alot.
Hey MrodAir, still waiting for my pair in .177,.........................

Easy peasy. That is the first time I have heard that phrase.
Stay tuned is another good one, Mike.
Thanks for your informative response to our questions.
Very good service in my opinion.
Helps make my pistol shoot better.
I`ll have three.
I`ll buy more from Mrodair.
