I didn't see the name Micky Maroney on your death list. He was a secret service agent who was transferred from the White House to Oklahoma City in January 1995. A few weeks after the transfer, he brought his family together and told them he'd just bought a double-indemnity term-life policy because he'd been hearing "disturbing" things in the rumor mill at the office (in the Murrah Fed. Bldg.). He told his wife he didn't think the building was necessarily safe. Maroney was killed in the bomb blast on April 19. His niece, who lives in Ohio, gave me this information two years ago. Maroney was born and raised in north-central Texas, and was a few months short of retirement at the time of his death. He didn't tell his family why he'd been transferred to OKC, but he wasn't happy about it. |
