Hi everybody. Iīm new in this forum, and I have two questions for you:
a) I saw a number in some Mk VII turrets, positioned below the mantlet, or in the rear right side wall. why the change? what does it mean? what do they say the numbers in the side?
b) I received a photo of a Jordanīs Churchill Mk VII. But I donīt have any information about that (year, other photos, etc.) does anybody know anything about this?
There are a wide variety of turret casting marks - usually the mark will identify in some way the foundry the cast the turret and also incoporate a TP number. The foundry marks don't appear to follow any particular naming/numbering standard but the TP number will always be TP 19911 for a MkVII and TP 22027 for a MkVIII turret. (TP numbers can be found stamped or cast on most fitings)
With regard to the Jordanian Churchills it has been sugested that photographs of these vehicles may actually show the vehicles supplied to Iraq back in the early/mid 50s.
