hello, i'm new to this forum but have been researching my granddads war history in the churchill tanks for some time. he served with the 153 RAC and then 147 RAC after 153 was disbanded (34th ATB). information on these two regiments seems sparse and i've run out of ideas of where to keep looking. if anyone has information they may think might be of interest to me i would be really happy to swap ideas, pictures, documents etc. I have a few personal pictures of his tank troop and some of the 147 fighting in the reichwald forest that i would love to share if you are interested?
Hello
My father drove a MK1V churchill named "Billericay" in 153 Reg. "B" squadron 8 troop.
The only (vague) history that I know is:- that after landing at Normandy in 1944 5he war took him through to Caen, through Belgium on to the Ardennes & finally to the Reichswald Forest.
He & his crew all survived.
I have a photo of my father & his crew.
Also, his brother fought in the Churcill tanks as a gunner.
I have photos of the brothers squadron (men & tanks) with a copmplete listing of their names & towns they hailed from.
Should you be interested I will happily respond with these photos for your perusal.
I know this is a late response but I have only bheen on line for a short while.
