Lol, but seriously Natalie if you have the chance to go to Paris by all means GO TO PARIS DAMMIT!!! I've never had anything but positive experiences with the people each time I went, and you'll find they appreciate it when you make an effort to speak French instead of relying on English to get around. Naturally there are the assholes, but you'll get those everywhere you go, especially since you're an American (it sucks to say that, but it's true). But yeah, I'm a huge francophile anyways so I'm gonna be pushing you to go until you do lol
