THE NATIONAL LIBERATION STRUGGLE IS THE MOST GLORIOUS PAGE IN THE MACEDONIAN PEOPLE'S HISTORY
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Part 1.

As a reward for the services which Bulgaria rendered by allowing the German hordes to cross its territory and stab Yugoslavia and Greece in the back, Hitler gave it a major portion of Vardar Macedonia.
In the very earliest days of the occupation, the fifth columnist elements began to prepare the ground for the arrival of the Bulgarian occupational army, administration and police. The fifth columnist agency in Macedonia,headed by Stefanov, Djuzelev and Chkatrov, started organizing in all localities the so-called Macedonian national committees. The purpose of these committees was: 1]to prepare politically and organizationally for the arrival of the Bulgarian occupational army and police;2] to separate the Macedonian people from the other people of Yugoslavia, and thereby forestall a common national liberation struggle under the leadership of the CPY; 3] to bring confusion into the party organizations in Macedonia. Because of Charlot's treachery, for he aided the creation of these committees believing that they should be "taken over from inside", the fifth column succeeded in attracting even some of our Party's leaders.
The Bulgarian army and police,following a well prepared plan, occupied all the localities in Macedonia,and these committees,having fulfilled their purposes,were disbanded.

The Bulgarian occupational policy until the German attack on the USSR was characterized by the following features:

1.Attempts to consolidate its power with the aid of quislings and "national committees",as well as the remnants of the old Yugoslav police;

2.Terror,looting and persecution of the Serbian population in Macedonia; racial discrimination against minorities; persecution of "non-genuine Bulgars"-communists and other patriotic Macedonians:

3.Isolation of the Macedonian people from the other peoples of Yugoslavia,especially from the brotherly Serbian people, by fomenting a savage chauvinist hatred;

4.Incitement of chauvinist hatred against the Greek and Albanian peoples and formation of Mihailovist counter-companies in the hope of creating conditions in the Aegean and Italian occupied parts of Macedonia for their annexation to Bulgaria and the separation of the Macedonian people from the general struggle against the Bulgarian and Italian invaders, in common with the Greek and Albanian peoples; Italian invaders and their greater Albanian lackeys conducted the same policy in the hope of bringing part of Macedonia into a "greater Albania",

5.Attempts to promote fascism among the Macedonian people,especially the Macedonian youth and working class,through such fascist organizations as Branik,Ratnici,Otec Paisij,Legioneri,BRS and others;

6.National and social oppression and the assimilation of the Macedonian people,by means of relentless terror. Plundering the wealth of Macedonia and exploitation of the Macedonian people.

Did the Bulgarian occupational forces succeed in all these attempts and how successful were they in winning over our people?
