Fayette Co. Kentucky is where I believe the father of Lewis and Beverly Pilcher would have died.....I am still looking there for a real connection.
Lewis W. Pilcher shows in the 1850 census in Sullivan Co. Missouri to have been born in Va. (unable to find anything on that yet).
He was in Fayette co. ky in 1820, Howard Co. MO in 1830. He is with his brother Beverly in the 1830 census. I have marriage records for them marrying on the same day....Lewis to Susan C. Moon and Beverly to Nancy Moon in the book "Record of Marriages in Fayette Co. KY 1803-1851."
I do believe that Lewis died between 1850 and 1860 because his wife susan is living with eldest son Lewis in the 1860 census. He would have died in Sullivan Co. Missouri, but I have yet to prove that.
My biggest headache now is last night while researching on the missouri death certificate database I found a death certificate for the son Lewis....and it list his father as John L. Pilcher......the mother is Susan Moon so I know it is the same family....but everything I have researched he went by the name Lewis.
In the book History of Lexington Ky Lewis Pilcher and Beverly Pilcher are listed as privates under McGowans Co. (this, the marriages and 1830 census led me to the conclusion that they are brothers)
I have not seen the book you refer to but I have read Margaret Campbell Pilchers book on the Pilchers.
I have been unable to find good links for Howard Co. Missouri or Fayette Co. Ky. Sullivan Co. has a decent website and I intend to go there this summer as most of the pilcher/posey connection ended up there.
If any of this rings a bell please let me know.
Lewis (or John L.) and Beverly would have been born in Va around 1788-1790, I am looking for their parents.
As far as DNA I have not seen reference anywhere to this family name having a project.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I will check back. Tracy McKee Posey
