PM Gruevski marks a start of regional road reconstruction

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski marked Saturday the start of a reconstruction of Ilinden-Kalugjerac 19km-long regional road.

- Developing the road network is one of the basic prerequisites for providing efficient transport of goods and passengers across our country. It is also very important for domestic, foreign businessmen when they make decisions on investing in the Republic of Macedonia, Gruevski said at the ceremony.

The upgrading of Macedonia's road network is an investment in better business climate, hence attracting of fresh capital and improving the life of citizens, he said.

- The road network modernization in this part of the Republic of Macedonia has been necessary for a long period, reflecting the country's development, urban plans dating 20 years ago. Therefore I am very pleased that today we are starting with the reconstruction of the regional road R-104, which bears great significance for northern Macedonia, Gruevski said.

The road section's reconstruction is part of the capital project for rehabilitation of 11 road sections, which kicked off yesterday on the regional road Negotino- Laskavica, the PM said, pointing out that the Government has provided funds for modernizing of several hundreds regional, local roads.

A total of Euro 8 billion has been earmarked for reconstruction of 230 main, regional and local roads across Macedonia for 2009-2016. //04.11.09 MiNa
