Comments on your MSTing "Street Fighter: Warrior's Legacy 3"

I might have noticed it only because I noticed the new design of the MOT page, but I've read through the third part of your MSTing of "Street Fighter: Warrior's Legacy." The story was somehow disturbing, most of it seemingly amounting to talking and talking and talking about Gryphon and Zoner and how great they are (along with a scene at the end of Gryphon beating up somebody), but I found the MSTing extremely funny. Its riffs didn't seem too harsh; rather, they worked quite nicely with the self-absorbed excesses of the story. I do have to admit, though, that I skipped over the MSTing's introduction, but that's really more my problem than yours.

The riff I found most intriguing was the reference to "Foundation": a little mean, but as Foundation isn't a familiar target of attack, I accepted its point and appreciated its dark humour. The references I was the most intrigued in actually getting were the not one but two comments about the "Daria" fan fiction writer "Canadabrit" and her creation Lynn Cullen. I suppose it's not obscure when you come at it from the right direction; it just surprised me at first that another person was a Daria fan and an MOT writer. (Then, I remembered seeing an introduction from someone who had worked on a Peter Guerin MSTing.) As for a point that applied however tangentially to a MSTing of my own, I was intrigued in S.D.'s brief recap of Undocumented Features parts 1 and 2. (Having spent over a year paging back and forth through UF1 to come up with riffs, though, I think there may be a slight error to her comment that "Minmei's singing is a lethal weapon to extreme conservatives and gweeps alike"; the extreme conservatives had been reincarnated as Boomers by that point. Also, the Dirty Pair were generated from a .gif, not a .jpg. Picky, picky...)

I've been reading the MSTing-in-progress of NXE 1:9, and I'm essentially pleased to see it in progress. In a way, that particular chapter encapsulates most of what aggravates me about NXE, from its shoddy "but it *looks* cool!" worldbuilding to its odd Anglophilia to its binary pure good-or-pure evil treatment of the NGE characters to its typical "outdo NGE without breaking a sweat" battle. Your riffing again seems to be treating the story funnily without getting too annoyed at it; it's better than what I think I could come up with.

A postscript: this is only addressed to one person who I'm not sure is constantly reading this board, but I think my emails to him bounced. I recently read Elmer Studios MSTing 149, "Evangelion II: The Gates of Oblivion". As a story, I have to agree with the final review and admit that some of the ridiculous fun of "DELTA Invasion" vanished in the revision, in a fashion similar to the revision of "Fate of the Children", but I think this increased my enjoyment of the riffing. It's a fine, entertaining work to close the Elmer Studios saga with.
