I used the above stove from about 1963 to 1978, after which I converted to Trangia. I still have the stove. Recently I went on a long trip and the group decided to use MSR petrol stoves. Same thing as a primus but fiddly, with many moving parts. They did the job, and were economical on fuel, but far less robust than my old primus. I got it out after lying up 26 years and it fired first time. It boiled a pot of water as quickly as a modern MSR and I am now ready to throw the MSR in the buin. The primus does have a slight leak though, from the gasket at the base of the burner, an inch above the join that screws into the body. I am afrad to meddle without more information on how to fix it and where to get parts etc. I would love a complete spare parts kit really. Does anyone out there know how to fix it ?
Thanks

First, try tightening the joint. If that does not help, you likely need a new seal.

Thank you. I apologise for failing to make clear I didn't want to tighten the joint or loosen it until I could source a new seal, or a supplier of seals. Maybe in Ireland ?

What do you have to loose?

If your burner is leaking presently, what do you have to loose by trying to snug it up a bit? That seal is going likely to be hard to come by. You will likely have to fabricate one yourself.

210 Leak

You will want 2 spaners. put one on the nut at the base of the burner and the other on the nut under the pre-heat bowl. Then tighten it about 1/6th of a turn at a time (this is 1 flat) and check for leaks.
If you see the sealing washer comming out you will have to replace it.
No problems I have them here in Oz.
I can make you up a kit including the leather pump cup if you want this.

Primus 210

My thanks to everyone who has answered this request for information. I am extremely impressed with the enthusiasm of the responses. In the end, I tightened the joint and it worked. Sounds simple but, I would never have had the courage to do that except for the back-up so apparently available.
And, I am hooked. That Nansen used a Primus very like mine is an inspiration. I am selling my MSR unused.
My kids are grown up now and I can do things like I just did, paddled a kayak from East Greenland to West Greenland, and a good stove is essential. Primus from now on.
Well done everyone

Hi
Hylomar blue won't work, but I've had no trouble with Loctite Threadlock and sealer. It's good enough to take the washer off all together.

The seals are not hard to come by, or expensive, visit the sites sponsor, base-camp
