The main trail out of Dixon, behind prison north to Polo has been patroled regularly by the Lee County Conservation Officer on a Sled. Make sure you have your registration card with you and your stickers displayed on sled properly..FYI
The trail as of 12-26-00 is very hard packed and bumpy, boy I wish there was a groomer locally.
There is tremendous deer along trail near Lowell Park.
Be careful as cruising at dusk/or early evening I have had several close encounters.
Those who travel to the Mobil station in Dixon, at 26 and Lowell Park Road, there is only two ways to get there semi-legally.
1st way: Come from Soccer field-Meadows area behind houses by the Roller Hockey Rink to Brinton and turn left on street ( hug crib) for about 100 feet, then turn right into corn field go straight across behind cemetary & come out behind old Chinese restaurant you will be right across from Mobil.
2nd way: come from state trail south on lowell park road, utilize corn field and shoulder of road. Becareful of steep ditches.
These are really the only ways to get to the Mobil station, Please be careful around residential area on Brinton, as I have seen some home owners putting up blockades were sledders have cut across thier lawns and driveaways. Also, near Lowell Park entarnce DO NOT DRIVE into park property, stay 10-15feet along road only.. Respect Laws, and personal property.. THANKS
