Does anyone want to contribute to a discussion here about getting Broadband into the village? Dave Wiblin and others including me are testing a WiFi network which will eventually link to the internet by satellite. It should be much faster than ADSL (which is what BT and the other big operators are offering). BT has not yet converted the Stadhampton exchange we are connected to, and anyone with a PC and internet connection should register their (no obligation) interest with BOTH systems. See the Broadband page for more information, and how to sign up - Go to www.draytonstleonard.co.uk/Broadband4DraytonStLeonard.htm .
And please reply to this message with any additional information, queries, comments, observations etc that you may have on Broadband for Drayton St Leonard.
Since 11 Aug 2004, ADSL Broadband has been available in the village to those with a BT phone line. (Possibly not to the outlying areas - reports welcome.) More information is on the Broadband page on www.dsl.iofm.net/Broadband4DraytonStLeonard.htm , sorry for the wrong link in the previous message. Because ADSL speeds on our lines are generally good (up to 1 Mbit/s reported for residentional customers, up to 2 Mbit/s for business) we are presently well served, so the WiFi/Satellite options have been shelved. I'll let you know if I hear of any developments.
