..to former Chairman Hall.

Dear Mr. Fiorentino:

Thank you for your February 16, 2001, e-mail to former Chairman Jim Hall regarding Flight 800. Your comments on the Metallurgy and Structures Sequencing Group Report and questions about the nose wheel tires and nose gear doors on the accident airplane.

The issues that your described are addressed in the Aircraft Accident Report regarding this accident. I encourage you to read the final report, which is available........blah......blah.......blah......

Sincerely,
John Clark
Director
Office of Aviation Safety

Of course, if the issues that I descibed WERE in fact addressed in the report, I wouldn't have sent the e-mail. Since the NTSB is determined to "stick to their guns".......so am I.

Nothing like a good slap in the face to make you work harder!

John,

That's not a slap, it's the business!

They have a pre-printed reply now, it goes:

Dear Mr <x>,

We thank you for your interest in <x>.

We think you may be interested in <x> which covers in great detail your enquiry.

Yours - with a yawwwwwwwwnnnnnn - NTSB.

Ask them about their trajectory study, ask them why TWA fit rocket engines to certain parts of their aircraft.

Kidding of course, but they have a problem, and you are not helping them resolve it. I have a deal of respect for the NTSB, they reply even to foreign nationals, but they say what they said to you - get off our backs, read the report.

They know whatr they're doing, just as Ian knows what he's doing. (Ooops, that'll set him off again. )

Stay with us John, the truth is out there. (But not yet!)

TJ

Don't mention the word umbrella around here, I've almost finished my ark!

Re your NTSB reply, the nose gear doors are definitely not addressed to any conclusion in the report, as many other areas aren't. The message you and everyone else is getting can be summed up in two words:

'Go away'.

It is alleged that Kallstrom himself pointed out the gouges in the nose gear structure to a visitor to Calverton and commented that his people had told him that they were high velocity/explosive signatures.

I'll share some of my private correspondence with involved parties on this matter - privately.

The trajectory study was a one-man effort apparently, you should try it, it is most interesting. (Especially when viewed with Glen Schulz's claim).

Later.......
