The weather information I imparted re: a "rather severe temperature inversion"
evening of 7/17/1996 was apparently wrong............The local yocal weatherman
who supplied me with his data, apparently from 7/17/97 shall remain nameless.

Weather did NOT focus nor cause multipath propagation to explain these reports.
A radiosonde weather balloon was launched from Brookhaven National Laboratory
at 8 pm, half an hour before the accident and at 25 km northwest, on its
regular world-wide, twice-daily schedule. It showed light winds aloft, and no
temperature inversion nor wind shears which would be necessary to cause
multipath acoustic refraction and propagation of blast waves arriving at
reported time intervals of seconds.
