One day a little pumpkin, sat in the orchard on its vine.
Everything was black, until the moon began to shine.
It looked down at the pumpkin, who sat there all alone,
Everything was quiet, 'till the wind began to moan.
Then in the brightness of the moon, a ghost flew in the sky
And everything was still, until the ghost came passing by.
Everyone was dancing, the owl and the cat.
Then came their old friend Dracula, who was carrying a bat.
They danced and twirled and boogied, they threw themselves about,
Until the wise moon realized, not everyone was out.
The quiet little pumpkin, still sat there by the shed.
When they asked him why he didn't dance, this is what he said...
"Moon, you brighten up the night so all of us can see.
When you sway in the wind, dear trees, it's quite a show to me.
When you dance in the sky, oh ghost, it gives me such a chill.
And when you all dance together, it gives me an endless thrill!
All season I have waited...waited for so long.
Now I finally get to hear, the very special song!"
The ghost looked at the owl, and the owl at the cat.
The cat looked at Count Dracula, who looked over to his bat.
The bat looked at the trees, no understanding found.
Then the moon spoke up and said,"But we don't hear a sound."
The pumpkin answered,"I do!" just listen to the breeze,
And the crackling of the wind, and the rustling of the leaves!
Can you hear it? Can you hear it? Give yourselves a chance!
This very special music, is what made you want to dance.
They all began to listen, the very best they could.
Then they all began to hear it, and finally understood.
That tiny, little pumpkin, they've known for not so long,
Had finally introduced them to the Halloween Song!
