I would recommend the Rose Nichols House on Beacon Hill, fascinating history (Rose Nichols was very involved with politics) and it was Rose Nichols dream to turn it into a museum so it has all the original furnishings. (Victorian mostly, I think?)A little bit off the beaten path for super touristy destinations (I was there twice and there was very little traffic going in and out; mostly foreigners).
