      BOUTIQUE ACTING AND MUSIC STUDIO OFFERS
      SUMMER CAMP FOR TEENS FOCUSING ON FILM ACTING


      SCOTTSDALE, AZ – Verve Studios, the boutique studio owned by actress, musician and producer Amanda Melby, will offer a specialized FILM acting camp for Teens this summer. Film Acting Camp for Teens will be held Monday-Friday, July 21-25, 2008 from 8:30 am – 12 pm. During this camp, participants will not only learn about acting on film, they will act on film! From auditions to wrapping the production, participants will go through the entire process of participating in a digital short film, all in an educational, instructional and fun environment. A short film with the entire class as the cast will be shot from start to finish during the week and participants will receive a DVD of the film at the conclusion of the camp. In addition, this camp covers character development, acting skills, camera technique and the differences and similarities between stage and film acting. The cost is $350 per student.



      The Teen camp is open to students ages 12-17 and is limited in size to give each student individual attention. Location is Phoenix Film Foundation offices, 1700 North 7th Avenue, 2nd floor Screening Room, Phoenix, AZ 85007. A deposit and completed registration form is required to reserve space in class and discounts are available for returning private and/or group students.



      Amanda Melby created Verve Studios because she believes that an artist exists within every person. Her passion is finding and cultivating that artist. She teaches and coaches in a nurturing, safe and honest environment. She is professional actress and is a member of SAG, AFTRA and AEA. In addition, Ms. Melby is a film and television producer, is a Board Member of the Phoenix Chapter of AFTRA and SAG and is the Executive Director of the Independent Feature Project: Phoenix. She has been nominated for three EMMYS® for her work as the host and Executive Producer of SCREEN WARS and was the recipient of the 2008 LAYNE AWARD for her dedication and work on behalf of the Arizona Entertainment Community.



      Melby can be seen in the feature THE MAJESTIC, the independent features JAKE’S CORNER, FAREWELL DARKNESS, NETHERBEAST, INCORPORATED, MADSION HALL, REM, THE LANGUAGE OF KICKBALL and the independent shorts BONDAGE, AUTUMN LEAVES, DEATHBED BLUES, OUTLET (a 2000 Sundance Festival selection), among others. Her television credits include S.I.S., BOSTON PUBLIC, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, AdTV and the host of IFP/PHX's SCREEN WARS on AZ-TV. Her Los Angeles theatrical credits include understudying for Peri Gilpin as Gwendolyn in FRASIER GONE WILDE: THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST at the Mark Taper Forum and starring as Sonia in the LA premiere of LIFE x 3. She has studied with Howard Fine in his Master Class in LA and maintains representation in LA and Phoenix. Amanda holds a BA in theatre and English from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota.       Jennifer Pfalzgraff, SAG, assists in teaching the camp. She has collectively starred in over 30 films and has many commercial, TV and theater acting credits to her resume. Jennifer has supporting roles in 21 Grams opposite Naomi Watts, and as Jessica Chastain’s supervisor/friend, Chloe, in the feature Jolene. She has written and starred in 3 homage for the TV series Screen Wars, and co-hosted a few episodes as well. She was nominated for an Emmy for her co-hosting. Jennifer has studied with various coaches in Portland, Los Angeles and Phoenix learning the many methods and techniques of acting, and realizes the importance of always working on your craft as an actor. She completed the Intermediate level of the Groundlings, in L.A. last year for her improv training and also has studied with Gordon Hunt in his Master Class.
