Hi Dina - Aileen finished filming in September 1981, and then she had to come back in November with Carol Burnett and the other Orphans to reshoot the opening scene, so they had to redye her hair, since she had to wear the wig. Then they had to dye it again when the movie opened, because of all the personal appearances Aileen did with the wig on in the summer of 1982. That's why her hair was still partly light in August 1982 when she did the Cosby interview. In the TV interviews without the wig in May 1982 when the movie premiered, she was completely blond.

On the cover of the Bobby's Girl album, she has natural, dark hair. When that photo was taken is a mystery. The most logical explanation was that Bobby's Girl was recorded in early 1982, prior to the premiere of the movie. But that's just a guess. Starting around the fall of 1982 Aileen and her family were sent around the world to promote the movie, and that's why Bobby's Girl, which was released at Thanksgiving, got no promotion, because the Quinns were out of the country.
