Lauderdale area to make their stage debut as CHITTY launches the First National Tour at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts November 18 through November 30, 2008.
Auditions will be held at The Broward Center for the Performing Arts in the Abdo New River Room on Sunday, September 28 at 10:00am. Auditioning children are to arrive no later than 9:45am accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign-up for the audition. Auditions will begin promptly at 10:00am. Each child will be asked to sing a cappella 16 bars from one up-tempo song of choice. Children should be prepared to learn and execute simple choreography as part of the audition process. No decisions will be announced at any time during the auditions.
Six children will be selected for the ensemble, and they will appear as orphans in Act 2 of every performance. Two alternates will also be chosen. Approximate ages should be between 8 and 12 years old â and have the appearance of children, NOT young adults. Professional experience and headshots are not required.
The local children cast in the production and their parents or guardians will be provided rehearsal and performance information. The children will not receive any compensation, however this is a wonderful opportunity for children from Ft. Lauderdale to perform onstage with professional actors without having to ever leave town.
THE NATIONAL TOUR OF THE WIZARD OF OZ ANNOUNCES LOCAL MUNCHKIN AUDITIONS FOR ITS ORLANDO ENGAGEMENT
The National Tour of THE WIZARD OF OZ, touching down in Orlando in October, 2008 is sounding the alarm and calling for 12 local children to perform the roles of âmunchkinsâ as part of their performing arts education program, while this beloved classic is live on the Orlando stage in their hometown! The auditions will take place at the Orlando Fashion Square Mall on September 13, 2008 at 4:00PM.
THE WIZARD OF OZ is looking for a group of 12 skilled dancers and singers engaged in an ongoing study of acting, music and/or dance to perform timeless classics such as âDing Dong the Witch is Dead,â and help bring this national treasure to the Orlando stage. The selected children will be from an existing group and will be chosen based on the best overall group talent. No individual kids and/or partial group will be selected nor allowed to audition.
This opportunity will provide the children with real-life touring theatre experience. They will discover what itâs like to be part of a professional company, learn choreography by Leigh Constantine and be outfitted in the costume designs of Tim McQuillen-Wright. Itâs truly a unique experience and incredible opportunity for aspiring actors/actresses to follow their yellow brick road!
