I have a VP shunt. I have had headaches of different intensity since November of '07. A bad one hit me this weekend and into Monday thru Today, Thursday. I was at an ER Wed afternoon for 6 hours, got a head CT, got Percocet, which my 3 doctors don't like me to take normally, because I have many medicines, but I only take it when my head hurts 10/10, which is usually when I rise in the morning first thing or after a long day of standing and I need it before bed. My surgeon has urged my PCP or my neurologist to get me another MRI of my head since the pain can be soo severe that it makes me cry and not eat anything. I haven't had one since January. I see a special neurologist who specializes in headaches (not just my seizure neurologist) to help determine a course of action. Imitrex cost $41.15 as a copay and Percocet with a six hour ER wait costs $5.00, which would you do?
