My ns called me Tuesday and said they found an impuratee in my CSF in my shunt. He offered to either go ahead a shunt tap now or wait a week and see how I felt. I went ahead with a shunt tap. I had that one of Friday. They said to call back in 7 days to get the results and said if they see something omonious they would call me. They also said if this one comes back positive they would turn me over to an infectious disease doctor.
At the same time this was going on I suddenly lost most of my vision in my left eye. I called my retnia specialest who got me in right away. He said he saw something that was not there the last time I went to him. He gave my eye drops and said if my vision had not improved in a month to call him back and make an appointment. I did drag my feel a little in calling him. I wanted to see how the irragation of my shunt went first hopeing that would improve things.
I forgot to ask if they that it was macular degenration(it runs in the family) or whether it would work itself out. My pressure in my eyes were good(10 and 15).
