I would advise you to talk to your neuosurgeon about the distal bothering you. I know a general surgeon will not touch the distal because if he does something to make it not drain right he could be liable. Call your surgeon about it.
I had a general surgeon do me a whole lot of harm just from not knowing and understanding shunts and how they work. He clipped it out of my abdomen which cause a ton of complications and additional surgeries.
