Hey everyone! Checking in with good news. I finally had my appointment in Maryland. The neurologist (don't faint) diagnosed me immediately with a shunt draining too much fluid and he said I have a chairi malformation, which was evident in even my scans of 4 years ago.
I am extremely happy to report that there ARE doctors out there that SPECIALIZE in adult hydrocephalus. And, as in my case, there are doctors who like to think they know everything. It took me a very long time to find a doctor who not only beleived me but was able to explain to me what was causing my issues.
The one thing that my husband and I were extremely impressed with is that this Dr Williams at Lifebridge Health Brain and Spine Institute spent almost 3 hours straight concentrating on just me.
Dr Williams now wants to confer with his associates to decide if I should have just the shunt surgery (he's going to put an adjustable one in) to see if the pressure eases up the chairi malformation. After he makes his decision, I have to go to my prime physician to decide on a course of action, which will mainly depend on my insurance.
I am just on cloud nine to finally be proven right!
