Shunt not working anymore

My father who is in his 70's has had a magnetic adjustable shunt for 10 years for NPH. He never had any problems until recently when all his old symptoms reappeared. It seems every day he's getting worst. We just purchased a wheel chair. He can barely pick his feet off the ground and is off balance. His memory is also starting to get effected. We took him to the doctor and she checked the pressure of the shunt. She said it seems to be working fine and drained some of the fluid but it may no difference. Friday afternoon we had a cat scan she said the ventricles are the same size as the last one. She said next she will put dye into the shunt and take another xray to make sure it's working alright. After that she said she would do a LP and drain a larger amount of fluid. My mother and I want to do everything we can to help him. The different in him the last few months is amazing. Last Saturday we took him to the casino he walked in and walked up 10 stairs by himself and played at the table. He wasn't walking good but he did make it. Now one week later he's in a wheel chair and can't pick his feet up,Also getting very moody.
Is it at all possible that the shunt needs revision but is still draining and the pressure is alright.? Mary
