Here I sit in my hospital bed 12 hours after surgery. It took 10 hours to get me in a room, even though my doc said I might go home today. Guess he changed his mind since I haven't seen him since this morning.
I'm just so happy that this is finally behind me! My platelets keep going down even with the steroids, but I guess I'll figure that out when I get back to the blood doc next week.
I feel different already, and that's a good thing. I can see a little better so I think my eyes readjusted a bit. I have "pulling" on my head, but that's the surgical site. No actual head pains that I can feel.
I just want to say once again, please let docs know that there is something called over shunting, and it will not change the size of the vents. The way to know if you are over shunted is to ask about the size of the aquaducts that the shunt is connected to. If they are too small, the shunt is over draining.
