Good letters in Sat.'s WP, taking the Post to task for its snide comments about the possibility of Big Dog TV:

Did they really comment on his family being dysfunctional?

Holy fucking mother of God! I had no idea that was a legitimate reason to keep people off televison. Better cancel Larry King's show immediately!

Speaking of dysfunctional families...

May 11 2002, 8:08 AM

It sometimes amazes me (not that I should be surprised) that absolutely no one in the gossip-mongering media comments on the weird dynamics of the Bush family.

Aside from the inauguration party where Jenna's top fell down, I have not seen either of the resident's daughters visit the White House once. And it's not like these are fully grown women--they are college students with vacations, breaks, reading weeks, etc. (although even if they were, one would expect them to show up for family pictures once in a while). Where are the Thanksgivings and xmases with Poppy & Babs, Jeb and his scofflaw family, all gathered together at table...or playing touch football on the lawn?

They don't want to be seen together. They are setting a bad example for American families.

They like to forget

May 11 2002, 8:39 AM

that BC was twice-elected, as opposed to the never-elected resident, the once-elected GHWB, and Mr. October Surpise. It gets in their craw that people like him, and aren't sick of him. But one reason is that he's incredibly smart and well-informed. I heard him speak last October, and he was just fantastic. Why would anyone want to be denied the chance of hearing him further? If someone doesn't like him, they can change the freakin' channel.

I do give the Post a little credit for publishing the letters blasting them. It was a low blow.
