i hope cheney repeats how they didn't have an expection of getting hit domestically too. makes them look like COMPLETE incompetents. we all know they're lying but even their lies betray a serious disconnect. even the wingnuts before 911, used to love to talk about how we would should expect to get hit soon by terrorists within our own shores. discussions of suitcase nukes in particular was a favorit topic.

i don't see how all this "we didn't know, we didn't know" can go over with the very crowd who used to love to talk about the possibility of this happening.

They truly are banking on the American people to be as dumb as they are and ignore all the pretty clear evidence already before us (and who knows what's to come) and conclude that, at the very, very least, the administration is lying to us with faces as bald as Ari's head.

It reminds me of Ronald Reagan during Iran contra, the the old man said he didn't remember any of the illegal manuevers to deal with terrorists, pay for hostages and deal arms in direct contravention of U.S. law.

If we took him at his word, Reagan was either getting senile, was being kept in the dark by his underlings, or was completely out of touch.

If we were cynical, the old man was acting again, lying through his teeth. Every one of the scenarios is alarming -- the most serious constitutional crisis of our times to date, and people gave him a pass.

I have such a bad feeling that we're going to see a repeat of this whole sorry legacy.
