If your site was your first effort, then you should be proud. A lot of folk never make it that far.
One suggestion about websites is that if you like a site, view the page source and copy the source. Just right click over a frame or page and select "view page source" or "this frame" and then select "view frame source." Why invent the wheel when it's been rolling for years.

Most sites look complex, but are really simple. Mine's simple. The only thing you wouldn't be able to figger out from viewing the source is the style sheet that I use and it's how I get the change of color when you mouse over the links. So, here it is:
