Response to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION???

They used a C4 transmission, very common in all the 78 and up Mustang II as well as Pintos, and Bobcats. If your going to swap one of these over I suggest that you get a donor car, as there is lots of small things that you will need that you don't think about untill you start installing. For example: Vacuum lines, oil cooler and oil cooler lines, kick-down bracket and rod, shifter. It also affords you the opportunity to see how everything goes together. I have'nt even driven mine yet but I can tell you it's way more comfortable with the clutch pedal gone!
