Now, about cab and top protection;
This is one of the most difficult aspects of transporting a Shay/Camelot, as wind can cause a lot of problems.
The easiest way, but knowing you are coming to Townsend in a few days this is probably not a possibility, is to have a top cover made. I was fortunate to have Ron Clement provide me with his when he went to an enclosed trailer.
Here are pics:
If you have time to have one made before you travel that would be great, but probably you do not.
As mentioned in my previous post, the people that bought my roadster used the cab top cover on their trip back to Colorado without any problems.
Other wise;
You can take the top off and store it in your transport vehicle if you have room. IF not then you might try lowering the top, wrapping it securely in heavy plastic and using duct tape or good rope/twine around the plastic to make sure wind can not get into the top. Make sure the side support screws are tight.
If you choose to leave the top up (would not recommend);
Make sure your side curtains ARE NOT installed, make sure your top thumb screws are tight and re check everytime you stop, along with the condition of the snaps along the back and side.
Anyone else have ideas here?
