Hello Gentleman,

I am happy to say I am the proud owner of a 1980 Shay roadster
You Might have seen it for sale in Manchester,Connecticut
It is now in my garage in New York City

What I would like to ask is if anyone has a manual for sale
or if I could download or xerox one.

I did not register it yet but I will soon
Any help or advice would be appreciated

Thank you in advance

Joel Bleiberg

Shay / Ford Manuals

December 18 2007, 1:17 PM

Hi Joel,

Though you'll surely hear from others, I want to list the repair and tune-up manuals I have so far that pertain to the FORD Pinto/Bobcat portion of the Shay/Camelot...These various manuals cover the DRIVETRAIN, some ELECTRCAL and a lot of TROUBLESHOOTING....I've found all of the following on EBAY, used, of course due age of the vehicles.

CHILTON - 1971-1980 Pinto/Bobcat Repair & Tuneup Guide
FORD - 1980 Pinto/Bobcat Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual
HAYNES - Pinto/Bobcat Repair Manual
FORD - A 5-volume set of Manuals (each a different color binder)
PETERSONS - Pinto Tuneup & Repair Manaul

There's an excellent NEW OWNERS MANUAL on the SOCI site:

http://www.geocities.com/shaymodela/newshayownersguide.doc

You can see a recent submission from me dated December 11, 2007 8:38 AM or just search on NEW OWNERS MANUAL in the FORUM SEARCH function...Once you find my reference, you'll see other responses

Lastly, I do not have any original manuals that may have been issued with a new car or avaialble at that time but others will cover that subject....Aside from all of the unique Shay/Camelot parts, most of the FORD manuals will cover the most important aspects of ownership.

New Shay Owners Manual

December 18 2007, 4:57 PM

Joel,

I'm having the same problem....Must be one of the letters is wrong...As an option, go to the FORUM back one page to the submission of December 12 under NEW OWNERS MANUAL...There are two ways to access and both are listed there..One is mine and one is Don Smith's.

Joel,
I live north of the city. What borough do you live in? Who knows maybe we can set up some kind of get together this summer.

No Shay Manual

December 18 2007, 6:26 PM

There was no Shay manual. There have been hints of one, but none exist as far as the Club is aware.

The link listed on the previous threads is to a guide to new Shay ownership, done by Roy Alexander, from BC, Canada. It is helpful as far as care and maintainance is concerned, but there is no concise owners manual that explains all of the ins and outs of operating a Shay/Camelot.

Joel,
I was born and raised in Queens, Astoria. It would be fun to run the Shay through the old neighborhood.

Repair manuals

December 18 2007, 10:42 PM

I checked out Amazon.com and found two, 1980 Pinto and Fairmont. Got them both one was brand new and the other barely used at all. The shipping was more expensive than the books.
