You can use the top one on your fuse block under the dash; it should be open [that's #3 drawing]. If not you can use the positive side of the battery, but be sure to put a fuse inline if the radio doesn't have one inline.

Ron is correct about the "live" wire to the lighter.
As far as the CIGARETTE LIGHTER, it was an OPTION...Various OPTION sheets show the price as either $16.00 or $20.00 depending on when the sheet was issued...I have one on my Shay...Great for plugging in the small air pump I have to inflate tires.
BUT......
I'd THINK TWICE about hooking a radio up to a "live" wire as all it takes is one time leaving it on inadvertently, it will drain the battery...That's why it's hooked up to the ignition/key system.
Hey Steve, If I understand you correctly, you want a hot wire so your radio can retain its memeory. If that is so you may want to do what I did. On the rear of your headlight switch there is a big fuse (for the lack of a better term) with two screw poles sticking out of it. They both are hot all the time. My radio has been hooked up to that and I have had no problems at all. Dave
Thanks guys... all good ideas. And Yes my Shay had a cigarette lighter. Didn't think about that, so that will be the first place I check out...THANKS
And yes, I need a hot wire for the radio memory. Right know I have both wires twisted together, (the red and yellow wire) and hooked up to the original power supply (switched) for the original radio.
