charcoal canester

everytime i fill i smell gas, i would like to bypass the charcoal can, am i correct to say the can is located under the floorboard next to the battery , which is the best way to get to the can , to do the bypass jobb , would appriciate your help.

JOHN: You are right about the location. When I desmogged my Shay I just reached up removed the caniter. It is just hanging there in a slide on clip so it does not require any tools. I put a Plug Cap over the hose connection on intake manifold where the hose connected. I just left the connection from gas tank to the canister there. Simple ordeal.... THANKS... Dave Shank
