Secret Photo of New Shay from New Zealand

Sally and I have returned from the land of Kiwi (both bird and fruit) and were able to obtain a photo of the new Shay being developed in a factory hidden away outside Christchurch.

As many of you are aware, the US (Uncle Sugar) government has given the SOCI a huge sum of money (at least $1.75) to re-start production of the Shay/Camelot. We traveled to New Zealand to work closely with the automobile engineer's in developing the NEW SHAY. It is more rugged, can be taken anywhere, has great pickup and hill climbing ability. Sorry, no air conditioning (to save some cost) and parts will be readily available by mail from New Zealand.

THIS is the recreational car of the future!

Don,

Is there a choice of colors?

Also is there a waiting list being made as was done in 1980?

Will have to check with the wife before I get another, what she calls "TOY"

Thanks for the info , sounds like you had a good trip.

NY Bob

I don't see the flying quail hood ornament. Is the oogah horn hidden somewhere and what the wide whites, are they available? A lot of unanswered questions as anyone would expect from a government sponsored enterprise.

New Zealand Shay

Bob,

Any color you want as long as it is black?

Here are the specs for this great automobile!

http://www.arctictracks.com/dataspecs.html

Rode this at the Antarctic Centre in Christchurch. Demonstrated it's great capability on a 60% incline. No shocks, auto tranny, gasoline or diesel engines available. A whopping 34 miles per hour.

I think a rear spare is available!

Forgot to mention, it is amphibious! Try that in a 1979 Shay!
