Okay Sandy, you need to confess first. I think the most exciting thing I have ever done is go to the grocery store and load groceries in the rumble seat. What an exciting life I lead !!!!!!

That question would be best asked back when anonymous postings were still available.

Come on Dave, Donna and I are just a couple old retired women trying to find something exciting to talk about. Oh, and let me say "Shay" since the forum is supposed to be car related.

Exciting times in a Shay

June 26 2009, 2:55 PM

I would have to say our touring and traveling to Indiana and Iowa for the meets, in our T-bird, and weekend touring in the Model A around the Springfield area. Driving through a buffalo herd at Prarie State Park here in Missouri was interesting!

I guess the most interesting thing is when I found SOCI and Gary Wood told me who had my first Shay.

Done.

June 26 2009, 4:27 PM

Well we have met some real great people [Shay owners]. I'd like to tell you Sandy about my Street Rod 1931 Ford 5 window coupe that I had and what I did in it. But Don would delete it. happy.gif happy.gif

I would have to agree with Dave, anonymous postings would really come in handy at this time. I would have to say though Rain or Shine there have been many exciding moments in the "Shay". It would be really hard to pick just one. Lol wink.gif

Sandy, the only elaboration I can give now is the exciding moments with the Shay go all the way back to 1985. As you told Gary, let's talk about this a little more at the Iowa meet. lolol

Hmm, the best thing I've done with my Shay....

Thats a tough one.

Maybe driving it home from Delaware, 110 miles the day I bought it in 105 degree heat.

OR

Actually figuring out the wiring harness while attempting to use the diagram as a guide. At one point there had been a mass short circuit fire under my dash and a replacement of the same dead wires with stereo and house wires.

OR

Winning a Best of Show trophy at a JUDGED car show. I beat out a mint 1936 Ford Convertible, and a very sweet 1937 Packard Phaeton.

Every day is exciting.

Chris where in Delaware did you get your Shay? One time my Shay was awarded a trophy so large I had to put the top down in order to carry it home. I don't really enjoy the shows as much as getting together with other old car owners and touring to some scenic location for lunch or a picnic.

Jim,

I bought Bernadette in Bear, Delaware. I drove it home to New Jersey all the way up I-95. I sure freaked out a lot of people too.

I think that Dave Shank lives a very interesting life. I bet that Michael J. was waving out the window for you to toot your horn.

Drove "Clementine" with "Napsack" from Jacksonville to Key West, and back via Ft. Myers. Went right through downtown Miami.
Was a long journey but then, I was only going 45 to 50 on old US 1.

Came across Aligator alley and there is only one rest stop along there. Had to make the stop and when I pulled in I had to ask to be excused from all the questions so that I could pump the bilges.

Took 7-8 days of travel as I recall.[linked image]
