I am undecided whether to fix the old heater core or replace it with a mojave heater. Let me know how you like the mojave heater anyone that used them. Thanks for any help. Jim Wendland.

I used the mojave heater on my Shay. It produces good heat and has a 3 speed fan. It did take up a lot of under dash space. I have a "how to" on my web page.

Nick - Can you give us a link to your web page?

I've had the Mohave heater for awhile, and could use some stimulus to go ahead & install it.

Any info would sure be appreciated.

Mojave heater

October 20 2009, 12:37 PM

I installed one under the dash where the radio used to be. The radio was dead when I bought the car 3 years ago. I installed the rotary switch where the the original switch was. The hard part was working in the restricted space under the dash. Puts out a goodly amount of heat, but is quite challenged by the many sources of cold air entering the cabin even with full canvas in place. I have all the attachments that go with the top. I can email pictures if you like. Russell

Since I removed the radio, I had room to tip the heater back, still leaving footroom behind the Mojave. I used the radio back brace on the back of the heater and it made it real secure. I replaced the factory switch with the Mojave switch. From the sitting position in the vehicle, you don't see the ugly fasteners I fabricated.

Also note the clever cup holder installed beside the heater. I need to get a patent on that.

That third picture was the big helper.

Thanks for the web site & also the pictures.

It's still somewhat a daunting task, but I'm working up my nerve to do it.
