Response to I actually
That's the reality today when it comes to dance music. It's not necessarily about the quality of the music played or whether or not DJs actually have any skills. It's about whether your name can sell a ticket.
All these kids have been conditioned to think that if a person appears on the cover of Urb, Mixer, Mixmag, Muzik, etc. then that person must be great. They also begin to believe that if you AREN'T in any of these magazines then you're not worthy of their time and attention. Consequently, Buzz has to book all of these "star" DJs to keep their party going. I honestly think that if they stopped booking guest DJs every week and focused on residents, the party would go in the toilet because the kids that go are only concerned with going to "events", not going to some place because the music is good.
