I don't know about you guys, but I get this awful feeling that one, there are no chemical and biological threats in Iraq, and we are about to be ambushed, and two, Suddam is not even in the country but hiding out in an "Iraq Friendly" country keeping up with the war via CNN and Iraqi TV.
Can you imagine the concequences if we go all the way in, the whole place gets destroyed, Suddam is still alive, no bombs, no chemicals, no threat and we have made ourselves into the laughing stock of the world.
Sorry if I sound a little pesimestic right now, but I haven't been feeling well about this for a couple of days.
I understand your feelings. I won't divulge my political beliefs here, but I was listening to a news radio station when I got out of the shower this morning and military officials stated that they originally thought this "action" would be like the last and the Iraquis would fight a little and then run for the hills or surrender and things haven't been so smooth. Our people are being captured and killed and its slow going. I will spout off with one idea for everyone. I understand having to stop tyrrany before it spreads like a cancer and we need to learn from the past, but I keep reminding myself that war has basically one pourpose. To kill people. You want to take land, defend yourself, control, whatever. But, to achieve that objective you have to kill people. Lots of them. And it ain't clean or pretty. I certainly can't speak for Jesus, but I wonder what his thoughts on this would be.
Jesus thinks that all of this is within God's plan. Does he like to see the innocent suffer? Of course not, but our nation, and all nations of the world, have told God to keep his nose out of our business. God knew this would happen, and He is allowing our own wishes to take their full consequence.
We as individual Christians can stay close to our Lord and pray for His Spirit to guide us into all righteousness, and rest assured that nothing will befall us that God has not allowed for our ultimate good. There are Christian soldiers no doubt who have been killed or will be killed, but even so, God is there. No, he doesn't like it, and the innocent on both sides suffer in this life. I think this is necessary to show us and the whole world just what evil brings about in society and the society of human nations: death and destruction. God's ways lead to life and blessings. Man's ways lead to death and devastation. Why does mankind always choose the way of death?
Terry, my post on 3/21, just below this thread, is about what Jesus thinks. I am not him either, but I think it is made clear in God's word what extent God would go to to ensure the success of His plan. Because we, including Abraham, don't obey well we find ourselves in these messes constantly. Abrahams need to jump ahead of God in the search for an heir is the reason we find ourselves today dealing with the desendents of the "wild ass of the desert"(Ishmael). God, throughout history, has corrected wrong doers by the means of war, and here we are. Whether we are right or wrong depends on ones perspective based on many personal issues including our view of God Himself. It is easy to confuse the horror of war with the unjustness of war. The war we face I believe will be a horrible war regardless of the side on which we find ourselves. It has been suggested that it won't be a long war because of our technology but I believe it will longer than anyone ever imagined. On 3/26 chemical suits were found in Iraqi's equipment possibly indicating that they intend to use chemical warfare to defend their fortress (Baghdad). The ancestors of these people would retreat to a fortified city and defend it. I believe this will be the case with Baghdad. For the unbeat side of this one would need to read the closing chapters of the Bible, in the end, God and those who stand with Him are the ultimate winners. I am not predicting this to be the end, but any day could be! When I first went in to the ministry, an old pastor told me that one should be ready on a moments notice to pray, preach, or die! Bearone
